Description
A moist and flavorful spiced peach bread made with juicy peaches and warm spices, perfect for summer and fall baking.
Ingredients
- 1 cup dark brown sugar, packed
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 3 large eggs, at room temperature
- 1 3/4 cups cake flour or all purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp allspice
- 1/2 tsp freshly grated nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp ground cloves
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 2 cups diced peaches, skin on
- 1 tsp coarse sparkling sugar
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350F and prepare a 9×5 loaf pan with butter and parchment paper
- Cream butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy for about 5 minutes
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition
- Whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and spices
- Add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk, beginning and ending with dry ingredients
- Mix gently and do not overmix the batter
- Fold in diced peaches evenly
- Pour batter into prepared pan and spread evenly
- Sprinkle coarse sugar on top
- Bake for 50 to 55 minutes until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs
- Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then remove and cool completely before slicing
Notes
- Use fresh ripe peaches for best flavor and texture
- Do not overmix to keep the bread soft
- Cake flour gives a lighter crumb but all purpose flour works well
- Let the bread cool slightly before slicing for clean cuts
